The National Bank of Hungary will withdraw the old 10,000 HUF banknotes from the market on 31 December 2019

On 31st December 2019, the national bank of Hungary will withdraw the old 10,000 HUF bank notes which in turn helps in the exchange process for the modernization of forint bank notes started in 2014.

Since December 2014 we can pay with the renewed version of the 10,000HUF denominations, so today 86% of the 10,000 forints in circulation are already being renewed. From January 1st, 2020, only the renewed version of HUF 10,000 banknotes will be available. Those notes that have not been exchanged by the closing date, will not lose its value because they can be redeemed free of charge (the legal tender for 3 years in each bank and post office and for twenty years at the central bank)
