Two new bank notes of denomination 500 and 1,000 algerian dinars along with a new coin with face value of 100 dinars was issued into circulation on sunday, by the central bank of Algeria. Some of Algeria’s historical and modern elements like the Algerian satellite Alcomsat 1, the great mosque of Algiers can be seen on the new bank notes and coins.
The founder of modern Algeria, Emir Abdelkader and Berber, King of Numidia, Jugurtha are two historical figures found on the note. Three different metals compose the 100-dinar coin. The core is made of pinkish-yellow copper and nickel, while the circle is made of gray stainless steel.
