Color for Characters and Numbers on 1,000-yen Bank of Japan Notes will be Changed

Combinations of characters and numbers currently printed in brown (dark orange) on 1,000-yen Bank of Japan notes have been all used up.

Therefore, the Ministry of Finance made a public notice based on Article 47 of the Bank of Japan Act so that it can newly issue 1,000-yen notes with characters and numbers printed in navy blue (dark purplish blue) from March 18, 2019.

Those Bank of Japan notes currently circulating can be used continuously.
