Sri Lanka to Issue New Rs. 2000 Banknote and a Commemorative Coin

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has declared the decision to issue a commemorative coin of Rs. 20 and a new currency note of Rs. 2000 to mark its 70th anniversary. It belongs to the existing 11th banknote series, and the bank also plans to upgrade the security features in this series.

A coin management system has been developed to provide the required coins and notes for transactions.
