Japan to issue coins commemorating 2019 Rugby World Cup

To commemorate the hosting of the country’s next year Rugby World Cup, Japan will issue gold and silver coins, said the Finance Ministry. On one side, the gold coin features the World Cup Trophy while on the other 2019 tournament’s logo and cherry blossoms are present. This is made using 15.6 grams of 24-carat gold and put on sale for ¥120,000. With 31.1 grams of fine silver, the silver coin showing a player tackling an opponent and the names of the 12 host Japanese cities will be made and sold for ¥9,500. 10,000 gold coins and 50,000 silver coins will be made. From March 15 of next year, orders can be given at    Japan Mint’s website where the coins are technically legal tender worth ¥10,000 and ¥1,000 respectively.
