Argentina’s Five Peso Bills to stop circulating by 2020

One of the worst designs in Argentinian currencies, the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) will take the 5 Peso bills out of circulation by February 2020.

The other factors that contributed to this decision were the strength of the dollar against foreign currencies and the rising inflation in Argentina.

Citizens are allowed to use the currency for any transactions till January 31, 2020. All financial institutions must accept the 5 Peso banknotes from August 1, 2019, until February 28, 2020. A coin with the same value as the 5 Peso bill is already in circulation.

The silver-colored coin with the myrtle as the central design is set to replace the 5 peso banknote.
