Central Bank of Armenia plans to issue new banknotes in November

The Central Bank of Armenia plans to introduce a new type of banknote in November this year, Central Bank Chairman Artur Javadyan told reporters on Sunday .

Earlier in the Central Bank reported that paper money will be replaced by composite banknotes of the third generation. Plastic money will be manufactured in accordance with the special requirements of the Central Bank: they must have high protective properties and be more durable, which implies a significant reduction in the cost of money circulation.

“We will introduce new banknotes in November within the framework of the events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Armenian dram. There are some technical issues, if we succeed, then the entire banknote number will be put into circulation, and if not, the part in November, and the second part - after the new year, “Javadyan said.

The regulator previously approved the theme of composite money.
